French Engineering, LLC is a transportation engineering consulting firm located in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, 15 minutes from Uniontown, PA and 20 minutes from Morgantown, WV. Founded in May, 2004 by Millie French, M.S.C.E., P.E. and L. James French, Ph.D., P.E., we provide expertise in the areas of transportation engineering services, research, and teaching.
Our primary market area consists of PennDOT Districts 1-0, 2-0, 9-0, 10-0, 11-0, and 12-0 and all of West Virginia. We are interested in providing services in whole or in partnership with other firms.

We are a certified Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) in Pennsylvania as a WBE firm. This certification also extends to work performed by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.

French Engineering, LLC has an impeccable reputation for work quality, efficiency and customer service. Our primary area of expertise is traffic engineering, including signal design, Transportation Management Plans for work zones, and a wide range of traffic studies. Additionally, we offer expertise in Hydrologic and Hydraulics (H & H) studies and special provision / specification writing. We are either under contract to or have completed projects in every District in western Pennsylvania (Districts 1-0, 2-0, 9-0, 10-0, 11-0, and 12-0). We also successfully completed three research projects for the PennDOT Bureau of Planning and Research. The results of research related to advanced traffic counters were documented in the paper entitled “Portable Non-Intrusive Traffic Data Collection in Variable Roadside Environments", which was published by ASCE and presented to an international audience in August 2006.
